World Cup 2008
The 2008 Rugby League World Cup will kick off on Saturday October 25 with a STEEDEN football.
The company that has been at the forefront of ball technology has been appointed as the worldwide exclusive manufacturing and distribution licensee for both the "match-ball" and "replica-ball" during the tournament.
RLIF Chairman and Tournament Director, Mr Colin Love AM said that the STEEDEN brand was an important addition to the tournament: "STEEDEN is a world leader in sports equipment and the importance they have placed on being a part of the World Cup is a reflection of the status building around the tournament."
Director of STEEDEN Nick Gray says his company was proud of its association with an event that will showcase the talents of the top ten Rugby League playing nations. "Securing the Rugby League World Cup is a fantastic result for STEEDEN and we are looking forward to working with the event organisers and teams. To play an important role in their on-field triumphs is a prestigious honour."
The STEEDEN brand was established in Queensland in 1958 by Ray Steeden to produce leather cricket balls, footballs and boxing bags. STEEDEN moved to NSW in the late 1960's and was acquired by GRAY-NICOLLS SPORTS in 1995.
Through the continuous introduction of new products and categories, the brand continues to go from strength to strength. STEEDEN is the Official Ball of many key competitions and associations, including the Super League, National Rugby League (NRL), State of Origin, New South Wales Rugby League and Queensland Rugby League.
