Gateshead beat Doncaster

Gateshead Thunder have won a 5^TH round Carnegie Cup tie against Oldham Roughyeds after beating fellow Steeden sponsored team Doncaster 32-18 at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium.

Thunder conceded an early try after Doncaster Hooker Craig Cook crossed the whitewash. However, Thunder completely outplayed their hosts for the next 60 minutes and crossed 6 times.

Tries from Andrew Henderson (2), Luke Branighan (2), Stewart Sanderson and Dylan Nash, along with 2 goals each for Michael Knowles and Ben McAlpine saw the Tyneside club go to a 32 - 6 lead.

However, late tries from Gaz Carey and Peter Green gave the hosts consolations.

Gateshead will now play Oldham in the 5^TH round of the Carnegie Challenge Cup at home, match ball supplied by Steeden. The matches will be played on the weekend of 8^th to the 10^th of May.
