Gateshead beat Doncaster

Gateshead Thunder have won a 5TH round Carnegie Cup tie against Oldham Roughyeds after beating fellow Steeden sponsored team Doncaster 32-18 at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium.
Thunder conceded an early try after Doncaster Hooker Craig Cook crossed the whitewash. However, Thunder completely outplayed their hosts for the next 60 minutes and crossed 6 times.
Tries from Andrew Henderson (2), Luke Branighan (2), Stewart Sanderson and Dylan Nash, along with 2 goals each for Michael Knowles and Ben McAlpine saw the Tyneside club go to a 32 - 6 lead.
However, late tries from Gaz Carey and Peter Green gave the hosts consolations.
Gateshead will now play Oldham in the 5TH round of the Carnegie Challenge Cup at home, match ball supplied by Steeden. The matches will be played on the weekend of 8th to the 10th of May.
