Steeden sponsored Cambridge University have had an eventful end to 2008.
They won there last BUCS game of 2008 54-0 against Loughborough Uni. Cambridge now end the year in second place in the BUCS Midlands League, equal on points with top team Nottingham Trent University, with Nottingham top as they have a game in hand and better points difference.
Cambridge coach John Evans was delighted with the result:
We came here to do a specific job and it came out far better than I envisaged.
Evans continued to complement his team on there stern defense and ability to convert pressure into points:
The set completion was fantastic but it was how we were completing the sets that were particularly pleasing. We gave them ball ten meters off their line and then had fantastic shape to defend with which even when Loughborough started to go wide with two pass shifts we had people in the right spots to defend them.
Cambridge then held there inaugural match vs. Green Lions. After a tough close game in what was supposed to be a friendly, Cambridge was edged out 25-16.
Cambridge Start 2009 with a tour to Carcosonne, starting on January 5th.
They will be coached for the week by Warrington Wolves coach Brian Chambers who along with John Evans will train the team for a match against a regional university side at the end of the week.
