Harlequins RL have confirmed that they will be letting French international Julien Rinaldi go at the end of the season.

This comes after the RFL announced that each Super League side could field no more then eight foreign players in a 25-man squad.

Quins coach Brian McDermott has admitted that letting Rinaldi go has been a difficult decision after his great performances since joining Quins from Les Catalans.

“It is a fact that I wouldn’t be releasing Julien if it wasn’t for the quota system, the same goes for Mark McLinden” Brian McDermott said.

“It is a cold way to do it but you have to look at the balance of the team and we simply have to recruit in other areas.” McDermott continued

“We are losing not only a very good player but also a top personality”

Julien Rinaldi responded to the news by saying how he would have liked to of stayed with Quins but will have to begin the process of finding a new club in time for the 2009 season

“I am disappointed that I wont be staying on with Harlequins” he said

“I have really enjoyed being part of the club, my team mates and London as a place to live but it is just the way it is”
